Leather for Belt, Wallet & Small Leather Goods Manufacturers
Small leather goods expose everything: substance consistency, skiving, edge finish. This is our deepest line — both the hides and the finished product — and it carries our lowest minimums.

Construction
Four details that decide quality
A wallet is a simple object, which means there is nowhere for poor work to hide. When you evaluate a sample — ours or anyone else's — check these before anything else. They predict long-term customer satisfaction better than the leather grade does.
- 01SkivingLeather thinned at fold lines and seams so the folded piece stays slim. An unskived wallet is visibly bulky and will not close flat — the clearest single indicator of whether a factory knows what it is doing.
- 02Edge treatmentPainted edges in multiple thin coats sanded between them, or burnished edges on veg tan. Cheap goods get one thick coat that chips within months.
- 03Stitch density and backstitchingSeven to nine stitches per inch reads as considered. Backstitching at pocket mouths — the highest-stress points — prevents the unravelling that ends a wallet's life.
- 04Card pocket tensionSlots must hold a card securely when new and still accept one after a year of stretching. This comes from pattern tolerances, not material.

|---|---|---|---|
| Cowhide | 1.1–2.2mm | Aniline, Embossed, Nubuck, Pebble, Pull-Up, Semi-Aniline, Smooth, Suede, Veg Tan | 165 |

Belt strap leather, stated plainly
A quality belt wants 3.0–4.0mm so it does not stretch under tension or crack at the holes. Our stocked cowhide tops out around 2.2mm. We therefore produce belts as finished goods using heavier stock sourced for the build — we do not sell belt-weight strap leather by the square foot. Wallet and strap components at 1.1–2.2mm ship from stock as normal.

FAQ
Small leather goods sourcing questions
What substance do you supply for belt straps?
Belts want 3.0–4.0mm to resist stretching and cracking at the holes. Our stocked cowhide tops out at about 2.2mm, so we produce belts as finished goods using heavier stock sourced for the build rather than selling belt-weight strap leather by the square foot. For wallet and strap components at 1.1–2.2mm we supply from stock.
What leather is best for wallets?
Full-grain cowhide at roughly 1.0–1.4mm. Thinner feels flimsy and thicker will not fold cleanly or sit in a pocket. Choose the finish for the brand story: aniline and pull-up develop a patina, smooth and pebble stay consistent.
Do you make finished wallets and belts, or only supply leather?
Both, and this is our deepest finished line — wallets and belts together account for the majority of our finished-goods catalogue. Current unit prices and minimums are shown per listing and are quoted live rather than from a fixed price list.
What are the minimums on finished small leather goods?
These carry the lowest minimums we offer — low enough to validate a design before committing capital, and well below the 300–500 unit floors typical of large factories. The exact figure per line is on the catalogue listing.
Can you emboss or deboss our logo?
Yes. Both press your mark into the leather with a heated die. The die is a one-off tooling cost on the first order and is then stored and reused free on every repeat order, so it is cheap amortised and disproportionately expensive on a very small first run.
What separates a good wallet from a cheap one?
Four things: skiving at the fold lines so it closes flat, edge paint applied in thin sanded coats rather than one thick one, backstitching at pocket mouths, and card-slot tension that still holds a card after a year. Check those on any sample, from us or anyone else.
