Industry supply
Leather for Footwear Manufacturers
We supply hides by the square foot to shoe factories and footwear brands — cut-ready material with documented substance, temper and grade, not a mixed pallet you have to sort.

Buyer requirements
What footwear manufacturers specify
Footwear is a component business, not a single-material one. A shoe factory rarely wants “leather” — it wants an upper at one substance, a lining at another, and consistency across a run measured in thousands of pairs. The specification that matters:
- Substance, per component
- Uppers typically 1.4–1.8mm; linings 0.8–1.2mm. Quoted as a range, because leather is split to a tolerance rather than a single figure.
- Temper
- Firm enough to hold a lasted shape without cracking at the vamp. Too soft and the upper collapses; too firm and it will not last cleanly.
- Grain consistency
- Volume lines need a uniform surface across every pair. Corrected and embossed grains exist precisely for this.
- Yield per hide
- Shoe patterns nest awkwardly. Grade drives usable panel area, which is what you are really paying for — not the per-square-foot rate.
Verified availability
What we actually stock
Read from our live catalogue rather than a brochure figure, so the substances below are what is genuinely available today.
| Hide | Substance | Types stocked | Options |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cowhide | 1.1–2.2mm | Aniline, Embossed, Nubuck, Pebble, Pull-Up, Semi-Aniline, Smooth, Suede, Veg Tan | 165 |
| Buffalo | 1.2–4.5mm | Pebble, Smooth | 5 |
| Goat | 0.8–1.4mm | Nubuck, Pebble, Smooth, Suede | 14 |
Tannage is chrome as standard; vegetable-tanned cowhide is stocked at 1.2–2.2mm and suits uppers and linings rather than bottoming.
Applications
Matching leather to the component
| Component | Suggested leather | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Dress shoe upper | Smooth full-grain cowhide, 1.4–1.6mm | Takes a high polish and holds a lasted shape |
| Casual / sneaker upper | Pebble or embossed cowhide, 1.2–1.6mm | Textured grain disguises scuffing in wear |
| Boot upper | Pull-up or waxed cowhide, 1.6–2.0mm | Heavier substance, and the finish ages rather than looking worn |
| Nubuck / suede upper | Nubuck or suede, 1.2–1.6mm | Napped surface; needs better raw material as there is no pigment layer |
| Lining | Goat, 0.8–1.2mm | Light, breathable and strong for its weight against the foot |
| Quarter lining / collar | Goat or light cowhide | Abrasion resistance where the heel moves |
What we do not supply
Sole, insole and welt leather. Bottoming stock is heavy vegetable-tanned leather at 3mm and above; every vegetable-tanned hide we carry is cowhide at 1.2–2.2mm. We would rather point you elsewhere for bottoming than take the order and substitute.
How we control it
Grading and quality control
Every batch passes six-stage inspection with in-house lab testing of thickness, tensile strength, colour fastness and chemical compliance. For footwear specifically, the two failure modes that matter are substance drift between bundles and colour variation between dye lots — both are documented per batch, and we hold a retained swatch against your approved sample.
We are certified to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001, tan through LWG-certified partners, and our chemistry is REACH compliant. Full detail on the quality and process page.
How to buy
Sampling and ordering

- 03Confirm grade and volumeWe quote per square foot against your specification, and confirm grade and square footage per bundle.
- 04Production and exportGraded and documented per batch, then shipped FOB Karachi as standard with full export paperwork.
FAQ
Footwear leather sourcing questions
What substance (thickness) do you supply for shoe uppers?
Our cowhide runs roughly 1.1–2.2mm and buffalo up to 4.5mm. Uppers are typically taken at 1.4–1.8mm, linings from goat at 0.8–1.2mm. Tell us the component and we will confirm the exact substance available before you order, rather than shipping a nominal figure.
Do you supply corrected-grain leather for volume production?
Yes. Embossed and pebble-finished cowhide is our largest stocked group and is the usual choice for high-volume footwear where a uniform surface matters more than natural markings. Full-grain smooth and nubuck are available for premium lines.
Can you supply sole, insole or welt leather?
Not currently. Sole and welt leather is heavy vegetable-tanned stock at 3mm and above; all of our vegetable-tanned hides are cowhide at 1.2–2.2mm, which suits uppers and linings rather than bottoming. We would rather say so than take an order we cannot fill correctly.
How is leather priced for footwear orders?
Per square foot, against a specification. The rate depends on animal, tannage, substance, finish and grade, and bands down with volume. Send the component, substance and monthly requirement and we will quote against it.
Can I see the leather before committing?
Yes, and you should. Swatches are complimentary for verified trade buyers — you pay shipping only. Colour and temper cannot be judged from a photograph, and approving material from a screen is the most common cause of a rejected bulk shipment.
What documentation ships with a footwear leather order?
Commercial invoice, packing list with square footage per bundle, certificate of origin, and the bill of lading or air waybill. REACH declarations and chromium VI test reports are available on request, and a veterinary health certificate is issued where the destination requires one for animal-origin goods.
