Two Different Products, Often Confused
Before styles and pricing, a distinction that determines everything downstream:
Fashion leather outerwear
Biker, bomber, racer and blazer styles worn for how they look. Judged on leather quality, fit, lining and hardware. No protective standard applies.
Motorcycle apparel
Protective equipment. Abrasion-resistant panels, CE-rated armour at shoulders, elbows, back and knees, seam construction rated to hold under impact. In the EU this is regulated PPE under EN 17092.
Motorcycle clothing sold as protective in the EU and UK is Personal Protective Equipment. It must be tested to EN 17092, carry CE (or UKCA) marking, and ship with a declaration of conformity and user information. Certification is issued against a specific garment construction by a notified body — it is not a blanket factory certificate, and any supplier implying otherwise is misleading you. We build to the standard and coordinate testing; the certification is issued for your garment, in your name.
Jacket Styles We Produce
Biker
Asymmetric zip, wide lapels, belted waist, zipped cuffs. The classic. Usually cowhide 1.0–1.2mm; heavier reads authentic but restricts movement.
Bomber
Ribbed collar, cuffs and hem, straight front zip, relaxed body. More forgiving on fit across a size range than a biker, which makes it a lower-risk first style. Goat or lamb 0.8–1.0mm for drape.
Café racer
Minimal: band collar, straight centre zip, clean lines, little hardware. Least construction complexity of the fashion styles, and the least tolerant of poor pattern work — there is nothing to hide behind.
Blazer and shirt-jacket
Tailored constructions in soft lamb or goat 0.7–0.9mm. Fit and internal structure matter more here than leather weight; these are garment-engineering products rather than leather products.
Touring and adventure jackets
Technical motorcycle outerwear: armour pockets at shoulder, elbow and back, ventilation zips, stretch panels, waterproof membrane options, reflective detailing. Our largest jacket category with 51 live options.
Motorcycle suits
One-piece and two-piece racing and touring suits — the most technically demanding garment we make, with speed humps, accordion stretch panels, external sliders and full armour provision. 21 options currently live at from $195 per piece.

For anything sold for motorcycle use, cowhide at 1.2mm or heavier is the baseline for abrasion resistance. Lamb and light goat drape beautifully and have no place in a garment sold as protective. If a supplier offers you a 0.8mm lambskin "biker jacket" for motorcycle use, that is a serious signal about their understanding of the category.
Linings
- Polyester satin — standard, economical, slides on easily over clothing.
- Quilted polyester — insulation for cold-weather jackets.
- Mesh — ventilated, standard for summer touring gear.
- Removable thermal liner — zip-out, turns a three-season jacket into a four-season one. Popular in EU touring.
- Cotton or viscose — premium fashion feel.
- Waterproof membrane — laminated or drop-liner for adventure touring.
Size Grading & Fit
Fit is where jacket programmes succeed or fail, and it is the most underestimated part of the process. A wallet has no sizing risk. A jacket has an entire size curve, and a bad grade means returns across every size.
- Size systems — US, UK and EU differ, and a jacket graded for one market fits badly in another.
- Regional body shape — US sizing runs fuller through chest and waist than EU at the same nominal size. This is real and it drives return rates.
- Grade rules — how each measurement changes between sizes. We work to your grade rules, or supply ours.
- Fit samples — approve at least one mid-size fit sample before grading the full run. For a first jacket programme we strongly recommend two: a base size, then a graded size to verify the rules.
- Riding position — motorcycle jackets are cut for a forward-leaning posture, with longer sleeves and a longer back hem. A jacket cut on a standing block rides up and pulls at the cuffs.

Ex-works at the stated minimum, before customisation, freight, duties and any certification testing. Jacket minimums sit at 20 pieces — high relative to wallets because a jacket requires a full graded pattern set, and low relative to most of the industry, where 100+ per style is common.
What moves the unit cost
- Leather type and weight — the dominant factor; a jacket uses a lot of hide.
- Panel count — quilted and multi-panel racing constructions cost substantially more to cut and stitch.
- Armour — CE Level 1 or Level 2 inserts, supplied or bought in.
- Removable liners and membranes — effectively a second garment inside the first.
- Hardware — YKK against generic zips is very visible on a jacket.
- Size range breadth — more sizes means more pattern work and shorter runs per size.
Sialkot's Leather Garment Heritage
Sialkot's leather industry did not grow out of fashion. It grew out of technical products — gloves, work gear and motorcycle apparel — largely for European markets, over decades. The consequence for a buyer today is a labour force that already knows how to build an armour pocket that sits correctly over a shoulder joint, how to set a stretch accordion panel so it moves without gaping, and how to construct a seam that holds under abrasion.
